Trek Itinerary

Day1: Dehradun to Sankri Drive 7/8 hr drive 190 km

We start early from Dehradun and reach Sankri village by evening. Govind is the final stretch through Pashu National Park after crossing a check post at Netwar. We spend the night relaxing in a guest house or camps.

Day 2: Sankari (1,920 m) to Border (2,560 m) via taluka (1,820 m) 1 hour drive 5-6 hours hike: 14 km

After breakfast we are taken from Sankari to Taluka. The drive is a bit bumpy. The trek starts from the taluka on the path. It is quite pleasant to walk along the Supin River, walking through rapids with us, under the shade of walnuts, cedars and other trees. Often the passing villagers greet us on the way.

The path crosses over some streams which merge with Supine. After a few hours' walk, Gangad village can be seen across the river to the left. We continue our hike and after about an hour's walk, the quaint village of Osla reveals itself. The border opposite Osla to the river is a small settlement. We camp here or live in a hut with a local family in the village.

Day 3: Har ki Doon peak taken from Kalakatidhar Har ki Dun Peak - May; PC: Arnab Seema / Osla to Har ki Dun (3,510 m) 4-5 hours hike: 10 km

From Osla the trail gradually rises and passes through flowering bushes such as orchids, wool flowers and sunflowers. The ascending path rises above the confluence of the river from the Supin River and the Ruinsara Valley.

After going upstream to the left of the river, we camp at a very picturesque location at Har Ki Doon, at the junction of two valleys - one originating from Jaunsar glacier and the other beyond Hisar glacier.

Day 4: Har ki dun to Ratha tho (4,200 m) 4-5 hours hike: 5 km

Today we trek at a moderate speed to reach Ratha Tho. On Vasi, we pass through Morinda Tal, which is a small lake. A portion of the trek is little more than a boulder, but with a view of snow-capped peaks and wide valleys, it is a scenic walk.

Day 5: Rath Tho Borsu Pass Base Camp (Upper Lamjung) (4,900 m) 3-4 hours hike: 4 km

On this day, we move to a higher level. There are boulders on the path and often covered with snow. The campsite in Upper Lamjang is also mostly on ice. From here one gets a beautiful view of the valley behind.

Day 6: Bonga (4,000 meters) from Borsu Pass Base Camp (Upper Lamjung) to Bonsu Pass (5,360 m) 7-8 hours hike: 8 km

We start before sunrise for this day's trek. As we keep going up, so do the thoughts behind us. After crossing two glaciers and one final climb on the boulder, the Borasu-shaped cradle is in front of us. We descend towards the Himachal of the pass in a large glacier which usually appears on the initial slope. The trek ahead is along the tributary of the BSP River. We can find shepherds near the campsite.

Day 7: Bong to Chitkul (3,430 m) 8 hrs. hike: 15 km

Today's trek takes about 8 hours. It is an easy walk through flowering fields and forests. Overnight in Chitkul village. The trek ends here. One can get public or private transport to Shimla from Chitkul or Sangla.
